IS THERE A NEED FOR A COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH GROUP?
Whist Cornwall Council have implemented a 20’s plenty campaign across pilot areas of Cornwall, parishioners have still attended Council meetings and sent in correspondence to highlight how there is a minority of vehicles still speeding. The Parish Council has invested in a speed sign to reinforce the campaign message and to measure the speed of vehicles and the impact of the sign itself. Whilst it shows the average speed of vehicles between 20-30mph, the sign has recorded some vehicles exceeding the previous 30mph limit which is a concern for all. The speed sign also shows a reduction in the average speed when it is operational in the area.
The Parish Council is
seeking the view of the parish to set up a community speed watch group to support the campaign. If volunteers wish to create a group, the Parish Council will put forward training for co-ordinators to setup and manage in the areas deem appropriate by the Police.
For feedback or to volunteer to join the group, email the clerk of the Parish Council.
