Our public consultation exercise in February showed us the following community priorities:
- Replace the old roundabout with a similar new one. The current roundabout is close to the end of its serviceable life.
- Replace the Toddler Multiplay with alternative equipment for the younger users to incorporate some sort of climbing structure. The Toddler Multiplay is regarded as a duplication of the larger Junior Multiplay and safety concerns were expressed about risk of head injuries due to the low entry height of the tower roofs.
- Provide seating nearer to the main entrance of the Play Area as the existing seating is in shade and away from where parents would like to sit to supervise children and keep an eye on comings and goings.
Having received quotations from companies based on the consultation responses, the Parish Council has chosen its current supplier to provide items 1 & 2 above. The Council will address point 3 once the initial work has been completed. The quotation for the replacement of the roundabout and Toddler Multiplay amounts to £30,335, but thanks to a £20,000 grant from Cornwall Council, the net cost to the Parish will be reduced to £10,335.
