The Parish Council has received many representations in person, by letter, and by email regarding the potential closure of the public toilets located in the car park of Boscastle.
Costing over £19,000 annually to operate, these facilities have been leased to and maintained by Boscastle Community Interest Company (CIC) since 2013, following Cornwall Council’s decision to withdraw from managing them. At that time, it was agreed that Cornwall Council would transfer £12,000 annually from the additional levy on the first hour Car Park charge to the CIC to support the continued prov
ision of these essential facilities, with the CIC covering the remainder of the costs through the entry system.
Unfortunately, Cornwall Council has now given notice to withdraw this levy with immediate effect. This decision leaves the future of the public toilets uncertain, and we fully understand the concerns this raises for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Please be assured that the Parish Council is working urgently and in close partnership with the CIC and our divisional Cornwall Councillor, Barry Jordan, and Cornwall Council to find a suitable solution that ensures the continued provision of these vital facilities.
